Hi! My name is Paula. I was born in beautiful Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I’m extremely lucky to call the magical city of Queenstown, New Zealand, my home… where I live with my partner and our two kids.

Unlike many people in this craft, I didn’t have one of those classic beginnings in the art of crochet. I wasn’t taught as a child by a grandmother, mother, or aunt… none of my relatives crocheted or knitted at that time.

My first steps in this beautiful art began in 2015, thanks to a coincidence… someone leaving a magazine behind.

Years ago, while working at an airport, I found a crochet magazine that someone had left on a plane seat. Without thinking too much, I took it before someone threw it away, planning to read it later out of curiosity. When my shift ended, I started reading it… and suddenly, a world of possibilities opened before me.

I had no idea how many things could be made with crochet! Everything was beautiful and magical, but what caught my attention the most… and what I completely fell in love with… was the world of amigurumi. Finally, I could bring to life all those characters I had in my head!

Today, I can see that the magazine I found on that plane (which I still keep) was exactly what I had been looking for without even knowing it.

So, to the person who left that crochet magazine on the plane… thank you so much! You changed my life forever. 💚
