On Creating Patterns… calm waters, stormy waters and everything in between

Creating a pattern is intense. Some days feel like navigating calm waters and others feel like facing a storm. It is pouring my soul into something only to take it apart and start again… sometimes more than once. It is learning new techniques, either by researching or by inventing solutions to make an idea come to life.
It is also listening to other colleagues… usually my saint testers… and learning from their ways of doing things and from their recommendations. There is no space for ego when you create for others. Designing patterns teaches you a lot about the craft, but it also teaches you about yourself and your limits.
It is a journey of love and hate, a roller coaster of emotions. And although I am afraid of roller coasters, I choose to keep creating, because I still get excited every time I receive a message saying that someone has purchased one of my patterns. Seeing your creations and knowing you enjoyed my work makes me incredibly happy.
